A Coruna and Betanzos

Tour itinerary


  • Depart city Santiago (also available from other cities or cruise ship ports by prior arrangement within Galicia).
  • Stop 1. We head over to A Coruna, where we will spend the morning visiting and exploring this old city declared a Historical Artistic Monument. We will visit the Archaeology and History Museum Castle of San Anton, a former fortress and prison, the museum provides insight into the region's Prehistoric, Roman and Iron Age. Then we take in the views from the Tower of Hecrules, a Roman lighthouse which still guides seamen.

  • Stop 2. Before enjoying the rest of the city we stop to have a delicious three course Galician lunch accompanied by local wine.
  • Stop3. After lunch we visit the grandness of the Maria Pita plaza and the Town Hall and visit the elaborate cruceiro "stone cross" designed by Domingo de Andrade. We will also have some leisure time to enjoy the cobblestone streets of the old city.
  • Stop 4. Our final stop is Betanzos the old capital of Galicia that was built over the old castro of Untia. The town was designated as a historical-artistic patrimony in 1970. We will spend time visiting the Convent of San Francisco from the 14th century, the Bendana Palace and the Plaza of Garcia Hermanos.
  • Days end and back to Santiago.
