Rias Biaxas Albarino Wine and Culture Weekend Tour

Tour itinerary (3 day weekend tour)

Day one

  • Arrive in Santiago driver will meet you and take you to where you will be lodging, a Galician Pazo stately home full of history and charm.

  • We will enjoy a typical Galician lunch served with local wine from the Denomination of Origin Rias Biaxas before we begin the afternoon tour of the Cathedral of Santiago and the old quarter of the town.
  • 7:00 Head back to the Pazo to enjoy some authentic Galician cooking for dinner.


Day two

  • Breakfast
  • Drive over to Barona to visit the "castro", stone walls of century old fortress and coastline.
  • Continue driving along the coastline we stop in Corrubedo to visit the largest mobile sand dunes in Galicia surrounded by two lagoons located on side, one salt water lagoon and one of fresh water.
  • Stop to have lunch in the area, a three course meal accompanied by wine of the denomination of origin Rias Biaxas.
  • After lunch we follow the coastline passing many quaint little fishing port towns, until we make our way to Caitora. In Caitora we will stop to visit the famous West Towers 12th century and learn how these towers were part of the main defence against invading Vikings.
  • Next we make our way over to O Grove to take a leisure boat ride around the shores of this beautiful sea coast while enjoying fresh mussels.
  • We then make our way to visit a local winery, enjoying some prize winning Albarino wine while overlooking the beautiful coastline.
  • Lastly we stop to visit the views of the Lobeira lookout point, where the British government has dedicated a memorial to those who lost their lives along these shores.
  • Days end back to Pazo to enjoy some more homemade Galician cooking for dinner.


Day three

  • Breakfast
  • Check out of Pazo and driver will escort you to either the Santiago Airport or train station depending on your means of transportation.
  • When arranging your transportation please be sure to schedule departing flights or trains after 12:00 noon to accommodate travelling time.
