Camino de Santiago guided tour on foot

We offer the opportunity to walk, in four or five days, the last 100km (62 miles) of the famous pilgrim's millenarian Way of Santiago in order to obtain the "Compostela" passport.

This walk can take in either the "French Way" or the "Portuguese Way". On a holy year, the last one being 2010, the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage takes on an even greater significance.

Camino de Santiago walk (pilgrimage)

Our Camino (Way of St. James) walks can be either, "fully supported" with an English or Spanish speaking guide and an accompanying vehicle, or unsupported, i.e. independent.

In both cases we will arrange your accommodation during your "Way of St. James" experience, luggage transfer along the walk and any transport required to get you "to and from" the start and finish points of the Camino de Santiago.

This means that we will provide an airport pick-up service from Madrid or Santiago de Compostela and transportation to the 100km mark.

Jacobeo or Holy years

The last Jacobeo year (or Xacobeo meaning Jubilee year) was 2010, i.e. a holy year. These holy years only occur when St. James' day (July 25th) falls on a Sunday. The next Jacobeo will not take place until 2021, so the Way of Saint James takes on a huge meaning throughout the Jacobeo year and the cathedral of Santiago celebrates this fact by opening a special door. The last time that this door was opened was between the 31 December 2009 and 31 December 2010 and, once closed, will not now re-open until 2021.

The Way of St. James pilgrimage is a unique walking experience and many of those choosing to do the walk have no religious inclination or compulsion. The appeal of this walk is its beauty, its thousand year history and its final destination - the stunning city of Santiago de Compostela, the burial spot of St. James.

Even so, nearly everyone who completes the Way of Saint James walk describes some form of spiritual experience and many claim that it has changed their life. A great many people also make lifelong friends whilst undertaking the pilgrimage and most are captivated by the city of Santiago de Compostela and return back to see it again in subsequent years.

How to Book

Many parties and small groups (minimum of 8 pax) wish to do the Camino on their own, however when requested we can usually arrange for individuals or couples to join an existing group.

Our Camino walking tours are available for both the French Way and the Portuguese Way. Not only do they provide a unique and memorable experience, but they also introduce our walking tour guests to an active and culturally rich vacation that has no equal.
